With the move to semesters and faculty retirements approaching, Wright State University faces a unique moment in its already notable history, to go in new directions and to explore innovative methods in its mission to transform the lives of our students and the communities we serve. Creating a New Kind of University describes the direction taken by the University of Wisconsin Milwaukee during Nancy Zimpher's tenure as its chancellor. Through the perspective of UWM and its continuing efforts to create an institution suited to its particular students and setting, the book explores university engagement, its health as a movement and how it can best address a challenging future. Specific examples of UWM and the lessons learned there can provide fruit for discussion as we shape the curriculum for Wright State's transition to semesters.
